Check a company with Cairn
Send Cairn a company name on Signal or WhatsApp. It checks public sanctions, export-control and debarment lists, tells you what it found, and shows what it didn't check. You can ask questions about the result in the same chat.
It's free for one company and up to 10 people. You can ask for the report, follow up, or arrange repeat screens. New users may need to wait for access.
Get started on Signal or WhatsApp
Choose your channel on the signup page. Once you have access, send the company you want checked.
What to send
Give the company's full name and a country, website or ticker so Cairn can work out which company you mean. Add the names of any people you want screened. Cairn may ask you to choose between companies with similar names.
Can you screen Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN)? Show me which lists you checked, any potential matches, and what you couldn't check.
This is an example request. You can write it in your own words. If Cairn can't resolve a company, it can check the name you gave and explain that limit.
What comes back
You get a summary of potential matches, checks that found no candidate, and missing or out-of-date sources. Ask for the full report to see list dates and record details. Reports are available in Markdown, PDF or ZIP.
A potential match needs a person to compare the details. A similar name can belong to a different company. “No candidate found” means no candidate was found for that name on the lists checked. It does not establish that someone is safe to do business with.
When Cairn fits
Cairn is useful when you have a company to check and want to discuss the findings without setting up an API or another screening system. It can also help you inspect a specific question alongside a KYC service you already use.
KYC means “know your customer.” List screening is one part of it. The default Cairn screen does not verify an identity document, discover beneficial owners, check politically exposed persons, or research adverse media. If your job needs those checks or a full customer onboarding system, compare the broader options.
For a larger list, your own policy, a custom report format or an integration, talk to us about scoped work. We agree the sources, deliverable and price first. Asking for a repeat screen of the same company and people does not, by itself, make it paid work.
Questions to ask about a screen
- Which company did you identify, and what details did you use?
- Which lists did you check, and how old were they?
- Could this match be a different person or company?
- Which checks were missing, out of date or outside the scope?
- Can I see the record behind this finding and get the report?
- What still needs a person's review, and can you screen it again later?
If you need identity checks, ownership research or wider coverage, ask specifically. A list-screening report does not answer those questions by itself.
Help us improve the checks
Tell Cairn if a source is missing or a result is confusing. Our team uses that feedback to decide which datasets and screening rules to improve. A requested source may take work to add; we don't count it as covered until it is part of the screen.
